The Tun Ismail Ali Chair (TIAC) at the University of Malaya, in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia, is pleased to announce the 4th Monetary and Financial Economics Workshop, to be held on 19 November 2019, at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur. The organising committee would like to invite Malaysia-based academics, postgraduate students, economists from the private sector and think-tanks to participate in the workshop.
Description of the workshop theme
This workshop aims to facilitate the exchange of research ideas and findings on monetary and financial economics, and their implications to emerging market economies (EMEs). The first session of the workshop will cover monetary policy and inequality, and the second session will explore the changing dynamics of inflation in EMEs. The workshop will feature papers by recipients of the 2018 TIAC Research Grant.
The 7th TIAC Chairholder, Professor Athanasios Orphanides, currently the Professor of the Practice of Global Economics and Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management and former Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, will be delivering his inaugural keynote address at the beginning of this event.
